READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER TWO
Welcome to chapter two of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

“Spending time in the Himalayas is something that feels very special at the time, but hits harder after you return home.
It’s almost impossible to think about anything else whilst you’re riding across the largest mountain range on the planet; all the day-to-day bullsh*t fades away rapidly and you begin to feel alive again. I think it’s something everyone should experience whilst they can. It’s a true privilege” – Andy.
Andy gets it. There’s something about being in the mountains, with their towering peaks looming over us, that makes our everyday problems evaporate. We reconnect to ourselves. Like Andy put it, we feel alive again.
If you want to leave the day-to-day bullsh*t behind and feel alive again, be like Andy.

Have a cup of chai, it’ll cool you down…
Really! For those not familiar with chai, it’s a hot tea, as sweet as a tin of condensed milk that can be bought at the roadside for pennies a cup, offering you the chance to buy a round at every stop!
Despite the sweetness and 30°C heat, it is strangely refreshing and can help cool you down if you’re already sweating!
If you have time, watch the tea being made and poured, it beats throwing a tea bag in a cup and adding a splash of milk any day.
Try it yourself at one of our many chai pit stops along the way.

Beyond our control…
Every now and then, it’s worth remembering that while some things are within our control, many are not. Sometimes life surprises us with unexpected situations or decisions we hadn’t anticipated.
These moments can be challenging, disappointing, and unfamiliar. Yet, one thing remains firmly within our control: our mindset.
We can choose how to respond. We can choose to accept the situation, adapt, stay positive, and make the most of it.
The Himalayas are a great training ground for this mindset. With every twist and turn in the road, we never know what they’ll present to us. But as we always do, we accept, adapt and stay positive.
In the end, it always works out.

Nothing can prepare you for the reality of this journey…
Certainly not a social media post. Yes, photographs take us back to moments in the saddle, but what’s missing is the sensory overload and the sheer magnitude of the adventure.
This isn’t the monotonous route you take when the weather’s looking alright on a Sunday morning.
This is an adventure across a mountain range towards Mount Everest which tops the wish list of motorcyclists worldwide. It’s the journey of a lifetime, one that not only stays with you but changes you in ways you hadn’t thought possible.
Don’t believe us?
Experience it for yourself.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
