READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER THREE
Welcome to chapter three of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday and they’re an easy read, a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

Are you one of us?
There are plenty of people who prefer an air-conditioned coach or a fortnight on the beach (with a hit-and-run trip to the Taj Mahal).
That’s fine.
But it’s not the kind of adventure we want. We want an experience that reconnects us to nature (and ourselves).
We want two weeks of being around like minded people who want to experience something new, challenge themselves and have an adventure. We want to take the routes less travelled and see places many haven’t.
We want to swap stories with those we meet along the way and see what life is really like here.
The real India. Not just what we’ve seen on documentaries.
It’s time to ditch the tourist hotspots and selfie stops.
So, the question remains – are you one of us?

What to expect on your first trip to India?
Forget what you think you know.
Forget what you’ve been told.
Forget how things work at home.
India is a world of its own – a vast, vibrant, and always surprising country.
It might take a moment to adjust, but every experience here is a reminder of how life pushes on no matter what the circumstances.
Get ready to explore, learn, and be truly amazed.

Never too old to live your dream…
We’ve had riders from all ages join and complete our rides.
It doesn’t matter if they’re 35, 57 or 74, they all have one thing in common.
The dream of a motorcycle adventure. Only you can determine if you’re too old.
It’s more to do with competence than experience, and a ‘can do’ attitude.
None of us can avoid aging, but aging productively is something else.
If you’ve got the ability, determination and excitement to achieve your dream, why wouldn’t you do it?

What’s that in the road?
If you’ve been to India or know someone who has, chances are they’ve mentioned the cows in the road.
But these aren’t your average cows – they aren’t lost, abandoned, or targets to drive at. Quite the opposite! Cows are considered sacred in India, and people go out of their way to avoid them.
These cows are also surprisingly streetwise and well-adapted to life here.
If there’s a herd in the road, they’ll often move aside with a simple beep of your horn.
That said, always keep your eyes open and be ready to adjust your path – cows have the right of way here!

Can you imagine the disbelief the first time someone said they wanted to ride a motorcycle in the Himalayas?
It probably sounded like an inconceivable pipe dream. “People go to the Himalayas for trekking, not motorcycle adventures.”
But we’re doing it.
Several times a year, despite the disbelief every now and again!
Over time, many ideas will have been thought impossible, until someone found a way to accomplish them.
It’s just about having the right attitude to challenge conventional thinking, push boundaries, and strive for progress despite initial obstacles or doubts.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
