READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER THIRTY TWO
Welcome to chapter thirty two of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

Why we should slow down for bumps in the road…
Though challenging and sometimes frustrating, bumps offer valuable opportunities to build resilience and adapt to situations.
But how we approach them makes all the difference. If we hit them at speed, they can throw us off course and create problems.
However, if we slow down in time, we can assess the situation and take the right actions to stay on track.
The same applies when riding in South India.
Many of our routes take us off the beaten track, through small villages where you’ll encounter plenty of speed breakers. These are more than just safety measures – they serve as welcome reminders to slow down, not only for our own well-being but also to fully appreciate the beauty of our surroundings.

Just taking in the view…
And believe me when I say there’s plenty of incredible views here in the Indian Himalayas.
They’re absolutely breathtaking and worth stopping for.

“What an amazing journey to a truly awesome destination with a fantastic group of people.
From the challenging, broken roads of Northern Nepal, and out of a vibrant & crazy Kathmandu City, we rode across the stunningly vast Tibetan Plateau on fantastic roads to the busy city of Lhasa in Tibet.
Then, it was on to the awesome Everest Base Camp.
The reason I chose to ride with Alex and his team was the fact that he was the only company that actually stayed the night at Everest Base Camp. All the others just visited for the day. (Check the small print)
We rode many high mountain passes on some of the best ‘twisties’ I’ve ever ridden.
The whole trip was fantastic.
Alex & his brilliant team have certainly got Extreme Motorcycle Adventure to one of the remotest places on this planet, well & truly sorted.
I’ll be booking another ride for sure.” – Gary.
Gary’s correct.
The roads on this adventure have some of the best twisties I’ve ever encountered.
They’re like the roads you dreamt of when you first started riding.
Absolute bliss.

“I’ve never tried off-roading…”
Well, this certainly isn’t the time to start!
As we ride through the Kali Tiger reserve forest, we’re faced with some steep, broken trails – and believe us when we say it’s even steeper than it looks in the photos.
In terms of riding, it’s probably the most challenging part of the whole Grand Canyon India adventure.
As we slow down to navigate carefully, the temperature rises, the sweat pours, and the pressure mounts. Now’s the time to put our experience into practice.
The good news is we’re all in it together, and there are always plenty of smiles and laughs once we’ve reached the end of the trail.
Worst-case scenario – if you haven’t tackled off-road tracks before, we have another route that our team will guide you on.

Om Mani Padme Hum…
Prayer flags are a significant cultural and religious symbol in the Himalayan region, which is why you see them frequently during our Roof Of India ride.
These bright, colourful flags flutter on mountain passes, temples, and homes, carrying deep spiritual meanings.
They are believed to signify peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom – all qualities that come in handy on an extreme motorcycle adventure.
Many of our riders have decorated their motorcycles with them as a reminder of these values. Some have even bought flags to take home as a keepsake of their time here in the Himalayas.
We understand why.
Just a glimpse of these flags can transport you back to these enchanting lands, as if in a dreamlike trance.
Those of you who have experienced the Himalayas will know exactly what we mean.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
