READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER THIRTY THREE
Welcome to chapter thirty three of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

What happens after spending the night at Everest Base Camp?
The adventure continues!
It’s a chilly start to the day.
We wake up early for a final view of Base Camp, watch the sunrise over Mount Everest, and fuel ourselves ready for the day ahead.
Then it’s back on the motorcycles where we begin our journey back towards the border. Despite reaching this monumental part of the ride, now’s not the time to become complacent.
It’s just as important as ever to stay alert and keep your eyes on the road.

This isn’t what we mean when we say “rest day”…
With long days on the road – some clocking up over 300 km – a rest day is well earned.
On these days, we visit incredible places many haven’t heard of and take time to recharge.
On our Grand Canyon India ride, we visit Gandikota Gorge, fondly known as India’s Grand Canyon.
Here, we watch the sunrise and soak up the moment we’ve been waiting for – then the day is yours to spend by the pool.
Even after a well-deserved day off the motorcycles, you’ll soon be eager to get back on the road.

Something hanging over you…?
Day-to-day life brings plenty of challenges, responsibilities, and worries that can loom over us.
No matter how much pressure we put on ourselves, things are rarely as bad as we anticipate, and everything usually works out in the end. The best we can do is take one step at a time and keep moving forward.
Here in the Himalayas, we quite literally have something hanging over us during parts of the adventure – usually a massive rock face!
The roads are carved straight into the mountain, and whilst they might symbolise the weight we might carry on our shoulders, we always find a way through.

I know I said “think basic” when it came to accommodation, but I didn’t mean this basic…
Are you ready for an adventure of a lifetime?

“This ‘holiday’ was an incredible journey.
The scenery was stunning, the riding always challenging, and the people brilliant.
It is not an overstatement to say that every day was an adventure and I made some great friends along the way.” – Adam.
Adam’s got it nailed.
This holiday is an incredible journey through ancient lands that mesmerise at every km.
It’s definitely our kind of escape: sunshine, motorcycles, lots of laughs, beaches, and a few beers – what more could we possibly need?
Back in February, we asked our riders the question: Is it a holiday or an adventure?
We’ll find out what they had to say very soon…
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
