READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR
Welcome to chapter thirty four of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

And that’s the first Roof Of India ride of the year done and dusted!
2,270km covered in 14 days.
Exploring the out of this world Spiti Valley, riding cliff-hanging trails, staying in luxury houseboats on Dal Lake, riding one of the world’s highest motorable roads at over 17,000ft and camping in Arabian style tents in the heart of the Himalayas – with a dram or whisky (or two!) to top it all off.
There’s been plenty of laughter with a cracking group, and while one adventure comes to a close, another is just around the corner.
Over the next few days, we’ll be preparing for round two… who’s ready?

Every day is an adventure – especially when it starts on two wheels.
Agreed?

Halfway through the year already…
It’s a quiet reminder of how quickly time moves.
In a world that constantly pushes us to look ahead – quite literally, when you’re on a motorcycle – there’s real value in pausing to look back.
What have you achieved so far this year?
Where have your miles taken you?
It only feels like yesterday we were riding through the heat and vibrancy of South India in February – and yet, five unforgettable rides have already come and gone.
So many new faces, so many stories, and countless first-time bucket list adventures shared along the way.
To those still waiting for their moment: it’s coming.
And to those who’ve already ridden with us – thank you.

A different lens changes everything…
There’s something quite profound about seeing a journey through someone else’s eyes.
The photos our riders share aren’t just snapshots – they’re reflections of moments felt, not staged.
A sunrise over unfamiliar terrain, a dust trail vanishing into the horizon, a grin beneath a helmet – these images remind us that no two perspectives are the same, even on the same road.

Creature comforts…
Home comforts are deeply rooted in familiarity – our favourite meals and routines offer a sense of security and belonging.
But stepping outside of that comfort zone, especially when travelling, can lead to unforgettable experiences.
In Tibet, trying local food isn’t just about nourishment; it’s a window into the culture and spirit of the people. Traditional dishes like momos (steamed dumplings), tsampa (roasted barley flour often mixed with butter tea), and yak butter tea may be unfamiliar at first, but they carry centuries of tradition and resilience in every bite and sip.
Embracing these new tastes might challenge your palate, but it’s also a way to connect more deeply with a place, its history, and its people.
Sometimes, the most meaningful comforts are the ones we discover when we dare to try something new.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.
JOIN THE
KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
