READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER SIXTY-SIX
Welcome to chapter sixty-six of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings-on while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

Can you imagine spending three years in a cave?
It’s not uncommon for Buddhist monks to meditate in caves carved directly into the mountains.
They might stay for hours, months, or even years before returning.
It’s a spiritual tradition and a way to focus entirely on their path.
In a world full of screens and the constant bombardment of information, spending three years in a cave almost sounds appealing, doesn’t it? On our journey to Everest Base Camp, we spot many of these caves. They’re fascinating to see and take us back to a time before smartphones, screens and information overload.
It’s almost reassuring life like this still exists.
While we might not be meditating in caves, these adventures are a kind of meditation in themselves.
They take us away, give us a break from the endless negativity, and force us to look up from our screens.

“The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.” – J.R.R. Tolkien.
Looking ahead to the future can feel daunting, especially with a new year fast approaching.
It’s natural to worry about the unknown, but it’s also important to remember that every year we’ve lived has shown us something: unexpected joys, meaningful experiences, and life-shaping lessons.
Instead of fearing what’s next, we can choose to embrace it.
Trusting that the chapters ahead may hold some of our greatest adventures yet.

It’s called the Ride Guide.
Think of it as a daily essential – especially at the morning briefings.
Everything’s in this guide as we go through our route, planned stops, points of interest to look out for and any handy tips for the day.
Oh, and make sure your pen is to hand also; you’ll be taking notes.
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

“A great trip and the best way to start the year.
I am still smiling about how much fun it was. The Grand Canyon was such a surprise, and you get to travel through a part of untouched India” – Michael, Feb ’25.
Michael, we couldn’t agree more.
We’re nearly a year on from our last adventure in the south of India, and we still find ourselves reminiscing about it and laughing at the moments we shared.
Adventure will do that to you.

Puncture?
No problem.
Horn not working?
No problem.
Need a new clutch?
No problem.
Prevention is better than cure, right?
I’m a mechanic by trade, so nothing gets past me. We replace our fleet constantly, and each motorcycle is fully serviced before every ride. Not only that, every morning and evening the motorcycles are checked for any issues.
But when things do go wrong, our team of mechanics are always on hand to fix anything needed.
Even if that is at the side of the road.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
