READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE
Welcome to chapter sixty-one of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings-on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!
Alex Pirie
Founder & Lead Rider

It’s more than a motorcycle adventure…
It’s a way of life.
It’s choosing the long road instead of the easy one, embracing the unknown, trusting your instincts, and staying curious.
For those who have ridden with us, you’ll know that it becomes part of who you are. It shapes your attitude, your courage, and the way you see the world.
It becomes addictive and something that just can’t compare to much else. It’s an experience so indescribable that it’s only when you meet other motorcycle adventurers that you realise they get it.
You see the same glimmer in their eyes and the familiar itch of excitement to get the next ride booked.
On that note, when’s the next ride?

It’s hard to believe that just under 4 weeks ago we were all here, looking at this, sunset & sunrise.
The mighty Mount Everest in all her glory.
Riding a motorcycle across the Tibetan Plateau and staying the night at Everest Base Camp is special, very special.
Some say it defies words, but I’m sure there are better words and explanations than mine to describe this mind-blowing and unforgettable experience.
So, you were there, I was there, and the Nomadic Knights team were there.
How was it for you?
Let’s read your words.
(PS. I’ve got all the brilliant photographs we took at Base Camp in the morning and at the end of our ride in Kathmandu. I’m emailing you shortly, don’t worry.)

The waiting game…
How many times have you said to yourself, “I’ll wait until next week,” or “I’ll wait until Christmas and the New Year are out of the way”?
But what are you really waiting for?
Sometimes we do need to wait, yes.
However, more often than not, we tell ourselves we’re waiting for a valuable reason that, in hindsight, doesn’t make a difference.
We want to hold off for the “perfect” moment, but the truth is, perfect doesn’t exist. Instead of putting things off, we need to take action before it’s too late.
Make the decision yourself, rather than having the decision taken out of your hands.
Time waits for no one, so why are you waiting for the right time?

It’s the highest accolade for myself and the team when a rider gets home from the Rode To Everest ride, and then right away, books the Roof Of India ride.
We know that we’re getting it right.
Not just Stu on his own, though, he’s bringing his son this time.
How brilliant is that?
It’s a mind-blowing trip, Stu, you’ll love it.
In the meantime, check out these photographs.
I look forward to riding with you again in July 2027.

“Fill your life with experiences, not things.
Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.
Write to express, not to impress.” – Abhysheq Shukla
When we look back at life, we don’t remember the shiny gear or the bikes we once owned. We remember the rides.
It’s the sunrise starts, the laughter, the unexpected detours, the places we visited, the roads that tested us, the people we met and the moments of pure freedom that stay with us. I don’t think anyone has ever wished they’d had fewer of those memories.
That’s why, to my mind, we need these experiences more than ever.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
