READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE
Welcome to chapter sixty-nine of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings-on while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

Presence over presents…
During this time of year, it’s easy to get swept up in the stress and focus on the “stuff”, but it’s worth remembering that being present is far more valuable than any gift. When we’re truly present, we gain a deeper appreciation for everything around us and form more meaningful connections.
The same thing happens when we’re on a motorcycle adventure.
We’re forced to be present, right there in the moment.
We see what’s necessary, what’s important, and what’s truly needed. But this mindset isn’t just for motorcycle rides or Christmas.
Being present is something we can strive for throughout the year.
And on that note, enjoy the festivities all!

We’ll be starting our first adventure of 2026, and what a way to start the year – riding the stunning and ancient land of South India.
Wherever you ride, you’ll uncover relics of the many civilisations that have inhabited this land over two millennia. We’ll ride the Arabian Sea coastline and crisscross our way down the Western Ghats Mountain range and the Deccan Plateau.
It’s some of the best riding roads anywhere on the planet.
That I guarantee you.
But this is more than just a motorcycle ride in South India.
It’s two weeks of being around like-minded people.
Laughing a lot, making new friends, forgetting about the madness of the world, and taking each day as nature presents it to us.

“We finally went on this ride after delaying for a couple of years due to Covid, and I can say that it was definitely worth the wait.
I went with a few friends and came out with a lot more, thanks to the ragtag bunch of adventure seekers.
I had the absolute privilege of celebrating my birthday at Everest Base Camp, a birthday I will never forget.
Thanks to Alex and the team for making it special.
I’ll very likely be coming back for another trip with Nomadic Knights.
I can highly recommend it” – Henry.

What day is it…?
It’s that in-between time of Christmas and New Year when we lose ourselves in a bit of a time warp and the confusion over what day it is begins.
The same thing happens on adventures.
We get so absorbed in the ride and in the moment that all sense of time disappears. With the sunshine, the heat, and those glorious riding conditions, you can even forget it’s January or February.
That ability to switch off so completely you don’t even remember what day it is – that’s bliss.
Just you, the road, and the motorcycle.

Blow horn…
Using your horn is an important part of riding the roads in India.
A herd of goats coming towards you – beep!
Want to overtake – beep!
In a blind spot – beep!
Dog in the road – beep!
Letting another rider know you’re there – beep!
The possibilities are endless.
It’s not a sign of aggression; it’s simply a way of letting others know you’re there.
If in doubt – use your horn.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.
JOIN THE
KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
