READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVE
Welcome to chapter sixty-five of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings-on while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!
Alex Pirie
Founder & Lead Rider

Every January & February, we saddle up for an adventure in South India.
We can’t quite believe it comes around so fast.
It only seems like yesterday that we were setting off on our last adventure.
After arriving in South Goa, meeting all our riders and the team, enjoying the beach, running through all the necessary information, and completing a warm-up ride, it’s finally go time.
The motorcycles are checked over one, and the luggage is packed away onto the support truck, with all the vital pieces of kit tucked into the soft panniers already attached.
The seats are warm, the handlebars are hot, and a gentle breeze passes by.
There’s a buzz of excitement in the air.
That feeling that anything could happen at any given moment.
We have our daily briefing to run through the route, places to look out for, and chai stops for the day. It’s important to pay attention, but we know it’s hard to concentrate when all you want to do is turn the key in the ignition.
With all questions answered, we make our way to our motorcycles – our new companions for the eventful adventure ahead.
Then…it’s time to ride!

You there!
Ever dreamed of a motorcycle adventure?
Or better yet, an adventure through snow-capped mountains that make you feel as though you’re on another planet?
The kind of journey that pushes you beyond limits you never even knew existed?
Riding on cliff-hanging trails, rugged landscape and some of the world’s highest passes?
All on a motorcycle built precisely for the terrain beneath your wheels?
If that’s a yes…
What are you waiting for?
The ride is here, waiting for you.

Perception is reality, or is it..?
Our perspective shapes how we interpret experiences, navigate challenges, and move through the world.
It influences our thoughts, emotions, and decisions, and plays a powerful role in our overall wellbeing. But what we see at first glance is only one angle.
One moment in time.
Sometimes we need to look at things from a different perspective to gain a clearer understanding, or revisit a situation with fresh eyes. When we’re willing to explore different perspectives, like choosing a new route, adjusting our line, or slowing down to really take in the landscape.
We open ourselves to deeper understanding, new possibilities, and we might even realise our initial understanding was skewed.
Just as in life, on an adventure, a road you’ve ridden before can feel completely different the second time: new shadows, new lines, new terrain you didn’t notice when you were focused on something else.
The same bend in the trail can reveal a new obstacle or a new opportunity depending on your speed, the weather, or simply your mindset. You can ride the same route a dozen times and still discover something you missed.
Sometimes it’s worth taking the same route more than once.

“The Rode To Everest ride was a truly fantastic experience, and I loved every minute!
I genuinely made some great friends and the riding was amazing.
I especially loved the big landscapes, high mountain passes and being with all the other riders.
It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, and I’m hoping to do another trip with Alex and his team in the future” – Stuart.
That’s what we love to hear!
Whilst they might seem like just a motorcycle ride to some, these adventures mean so much more to us and our riders.
They’re life-changing and, for many like Stuart, the best thing they’ve ever done. It’s a reminder to do more of what you love.
After all, it might just bring out the best in you.

Something unprecedented…
Many people join us on adventures ready for excitement, connection, and the simple joy of riding motorcycles. Yet every so often, something unprecedented happens.
As the road stretches ahead for miles, in some of the most remote lands on Earth, a sudden quiet settles in, and you find yourself face to face with yourself and your own thoughts.
It can take riders by surprise.
Understandably so.
It’s not until moments like this that people realise they haven’t truly been present.
It’s an unexpected moment of stillness, stripped of noise and distraction, where people have the opportunity to breathe, to think, to work things out.
It might not be the moment everyone signs up for, but it’s the one everyone ultimately needs.
The pause.
The opportunity to really think.
Peace.
That’s when clarity begins.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.
