READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER SEVENTY
Welcome to chapter seventy of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings-on while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

The perfect way to blow off the cobwebs…
It’s not until you ride a motorcycle that you realise just how freeing it is.
The noise fades, the mind clears, and suddenly the only thing that matters is the road ahead.
There’s nothing quite like it, and you don’t truly understand it until you do it.
Add the varying landscape into the mix, and it becomes something else entirely.
Open roads, endless views, and the kind of motorcycle adventure that shakes off the cobwebs and reminds you what it feels like to be alive.

Do you keep your New Year’s resolutions…?
So many of us start the year with plans to change, whether it’s our fitness, our food, or something within our daily routine.
But how many of us truly keep those resolutions all year long?
Slim to none, most likely.
Still, it’s important to persevere.
To keep pressing on and to remember why we chose those resolutions in the first place. They’re usually about bettering ourselves and changing us in ways we didn’t think were possible.
Pushing boundaries.
Reminding us what living really feels like.
So don’t lose sight of them, especially if those resolutions involve more motorcycle adventures.
It might just be the best resolution you ever make.

Who will be the first rider of 2026 to earn themselves a T-shirt?

“I still struggle to describe the trip to those who ask me about it, and am reminded of the wisdom of Wally Herbert (the first man to cross the Arctic Ocean), who once said:
“Those who need to ask will never understand the answer, while others who feel the answer will never need to ask.”
Although to those who do ask me about it, I suspect my smile says it all.” – Sarah.
Yep. We’ve been there before, and we’re quite confident our riders have too.
It’s hard explaining these adventures to people.
There are almost too many moments and feelings, but not enough words to really do the experience justice.
And that’s exactly why.
Some things you can’t explain.
You just have to experience it for yourself.

“I’m ready for my close-up…”
Hopefully this is as close as you’ll get to a cow, especially on two wheels (you, not the cow).
Not because cows are dangerous; quite the opposite. It’s the threat you might pose to them. Cows are sacred here in India, so it’s important they’re treated with respect and given space.
That being said, they definitely don’t make it easy.
They could be sitting in the middle of a junction.
Walking towards you on a busy highway.
Wanting to cross the road (there’s a joke in there somewhere).
You have to be on your toes.
The good thing is these cows have adapted to life here; they don’t spook easily. They’re used to trucks whizzing by or two-wheelers weaving past.
But if in doubt, a quick beep of your horn and you’ll find they move out of the way.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.
JOIN THE
KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
