READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE
Welcome to chapter seventy-three of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings-on while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

They all packed it…
And for good reason. It’s an essential item on these adventures – especially when the challenges start rolling in (which they will). It’s always a handy thing to have with you.
You might be thinking it’s an essential like helmets, gloves, and gear.
But it’s not.
It’s the other essential: a sense of humour!
A good sense of humour, paired with a dash of humility, helps us stay light-hearted in the toughest moments, when we’re really put through our paces, and it makes the journey so much more enjoyable.
So make sure you pack it!

Easily one of the greatest things you can ever experience…
Two words: Indian hospitality.
It’s unlike anything you will have encountered before and is deeply rooted in cultural, religious, historical, and social traditions, reflecting an ingrained belief in treating guests with the highest respect and generosity.
It often leaves riders questioning Western standards, while instilling a new and profound faith in humanity.
With such warmth and generosity, the least we can do is take the time to get to know those being so incredibly hospitable. On each trip, we encourage riders to spend some time meeting the incredible people of India.
Something as simple as a smile can often lead to a full conversation, and the people you meet are generally friendly, curious, and talkative.
It’s moments like these, away from the motorcycle, that make a real difference to the ride and the overall experience.

There’s always one!
Luckily for us, the team is always on hand and well-practised when it comes to roadside repairs – even if it’s deep in the Himalayas.

“Rode To Everest was a truly incredible adventure all the way.
Spending the night at Mt. Everest Base Camp and celebrating with a great group of people is an experience that I’ll never forget.
Alex and his team are top-notch, both as trip leaders and as people.
I highly recommend Nomadic Knights if you’re looking for a fun and deeply rewarding motorcycle challenge!” – Michael.

The day we’ve all been waiting for…
This morning we headed out early to catch the moment we’ve been riding out east for: sunrise at the Grand Canyon of India.
Situated in the small village of Gandikota, on the banks of the Penna River, it’s one of the most spectacular geological formations in the country.
It was still dark when we arrived, and we ambled through the old fort village along the cobbled paths. Then it was time to take our positions. We climbed onto the massive rocks, readied our cameras and waited for nature to work its magic.
The natural beauty is utterly breathtaking.
The colours change right before our eyes, and it’s absolutely mesmerising.
By 7am, the sun begins to appear through the haze and sunshine starts to wash over us. So many riders tell us this is the highlight of the entire ride, and we understand why.
It’s one of those moments where every concern fades away; you feel well and truly alive and connected to the world we live in.
What an incredible way to start the year, right?
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
