READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER ONE
Welcome to the very first chapter of our ‘Ready To Ride, short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday and they’re an easy read, a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

It’s not mandatory to bring single malt whisky, but it is preferred.
It certainly brings out some hilarious stories, that’s for sure.
Fancy a wee dram around the campfire after an incredible day of riding in the Indian Himalayas?

Finally, a WhatsApp group worth joining!
The conversations are already in full swing ahead of our Grand Canyon India adventure. Riders are sharing experiences, where they’re travelling from, and reminiscing about past adventures together.
There’s a palpable buzz of excitement as the realisation sets in that the ride isn’t far off. It’s also safe to say the sense of humour is already in high gear!
Before each adventure, riders are invited to join our WhatsApp group, offering the opportunity to ask questions, introduce themselves, and connect with fellow adventurers.
It’s great to see so many riders coming from different corners of the globe, with a mix of new and returning faces – all eager to embark on this incredible journey through South India and starting the year on a high.

There’s a reason why we call this the Roof Of India…
From riding the daunting cliff hanging trails of the Indian Himalayas, tackling high-altitude desert and forest tracks, traversing the world’s highest motorable road at over 18,000 feet and watching the sunrise over snow-capped Himalayan peaks.
You really do feel on top of the world – and all in the saddle of a motorcycle.
There’s no feeling like it.

Exploring the ancient city of Lhasa…
Whilst there’s no denying that Mount Everest is an incredible part of this adventure, it’s not the only jaw-dropping place we visit.
We spend day nine in the fabled city of Lhasa – one of the highest cities in the world at 3,650 metres. During this rest day, we visit the famous Potala Palace, the former winter home of the exiled Dalai Lama.
Some say it’s the icon of Tibet, and over the years it’s been home to 14 Dalai Lamas. Seeing the way of life, the spirituality and history within the walls of this ancient city changes perspectives.
It’s an incredible experience and one that has stayed with many riders.

Everyone is following a leader, but each person moves forward at their own pace…
The same can be said for our riders. I lead every ride, but that doesn’t mean you have to be on my back wheel. There’s plenty of opportunity to stop as you please, and to ride at your own pace.
We encourage this.
There will always be a regroup at some point, usually over some chai – just make sure you watch out for the markers!
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.
JOIN THE
KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
