READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Welcome to chapter fourteen of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday and they’re an easy read, a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

They say a photo tells a thousand words…
For some reason, the first word that springs to mind when looking at this photo is whisky.
Not sure why. What words come to mind for you?
This photo was taken in Sarchu, where we camp for the night in the Indian Himalayas.
We gather round the fire, cook, share a dram or two, tell stories or tall tales and laugh until our cheeks ache.
There’s something about this moment that really connects us and evokes those primal instincts that often lie dormant day to day.
This really is living.
The stars pepper the sky, and we sit comfortable, knowing there’s plenty more days of adventure ahead of us.
Sounds like bliss, right?

Not what you were expecting?
When people imagine riding through the Himalayas, they might think of a place full of mountains covered in snow, and not much else.
Of course, there’s plenty of towering snow-capped peaks.
But there’s so much more to this landscape.
There’s remote deserts, glittering lakes, lush forested gorges, vast plateaus, high-altitude moorlands – and even smooth tarmac.
It’s quite unbelievable until you see it with your own eyes.

“Those who need to ask will never understand the answer, while others who feel the answer will never need to ask.”
When returning from an adventure, you might notice a big difference between those who have experienced rides like these and those who haven’t.
No matter how many words we use or stories we tell, it just doesn’t make sense for those who haven’t encountered something like a motorcycle adventure.
They’ll ask questions, they might share a story about someone they know who’s done something “similar.”
But they still don’t truly understand.
But when you’re talking to people who have – sometimes, all it takes is a smile or a nod of approval.
That’s enough.
You know they get it.
No words are needed.
They feel it.
That’s the beauty of these rides: they connect like-minded riders who simply get it.

“I have ridden with Alex and the team before and know that the crew at Nomadic Nights are the best at what they do.
The team behind the Roof of India have carefully curated the itinerary to offer riders a unique blend of adventure and cultural immersion…
…Each day brought new challenges and discoveries, testing our riding skills on rugged terrain. Despite the physical demands of the journey, the breathtaking views and camaraderie of fellow riders made every moment worth it….
…The Roof of India motorcycle adventure with Nomadic Knights had not only pushed me to my limits but had also enriched my understanding of the diverse cultures and landscapes of the Himalayan region.
It was a journey that tested my endurance, cultivated my spirit of adventure, and left me with memories that will last a lifetime” – Peter, Australia.
Peter gets it & he’s hit the nail on the head.
These rides are no walk in the park.
They’re supposed to test and challenge you.
They’re a great reminder of how resilient we really are.
Something we can often forget far too easily.
Are you resilient enough?

Less than 4 weeks…
It’s come round fast, but we’re definitely not complaining.
We’re ready to be back on a motorcycle exploring the Himalayas, and we’re sure our riders are too.
The excitement will continue to build each day, until the night before when it almost like being a kid on Christmas Eve all over again.
With that being said; who’s ready?
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
