READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER FORTY SIX
Welcome to chapter forty-six of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings-on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m sending these out every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!
Alex Pirie
Founder & Lead Rider

Yes, you can ride two-up – but the motorcycle should be involved!
We cover 2,723 km on our Grand Canyon India ride every January & February.
It will definitely be more comfortable for you (and your pillion) to make use of the seats.

Take time to capture the moment…
And we don’t just mean with a camera.
There are many opportunities to travel at your own pace and take it all in. We know how much experiences like this mean to people.
Sometimes you need to pause, be truly present, absorb the moment, and recognise the magnitude of riding in the Himalayas.
For some, it’s a moment that’s been a long time coming, so make sure to pause, take it in, take the photos, and treasure the memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.

How many people can say they’ve had Mt Everest in their rear-view mirror?
Only a small, elite group of riders who have bitten the bullet and taken on the challenge of a lifetime: covering 2,348 km and tackling altitudes of 17,000 feet (5,200 metres) on motorcycles built for this very terrain.
Needless to say, any view of Everest is breathtaking – but seeing it from the saddle of a motorcycle takes it to another level.
It’s an incredibly unique experience for a unique group of people.

Winter is coming…
As the sun begins to set on this year’s summer season, many might be dreading the colder months ahead.
But not us. Far from it.
It’s not just because winter looks a little different here, it’s because it’s when our summer of motorcycle adventures begins – in January, to be exact.
The days linger around 30°C, with palm trees lining the roads and winding stretches of tarmac ahead.
Ride a little further, and you’ll find white sandy beaches leading to sweeping views over the Arabian Sea.
These rides are proof that winter doesn’t have to be grey and boring!

“This is a face of a thoroughly satisfied customer.
No amount of rider training could have prepared me for the Roof Of India ride.
It was challenging and rewarding beyond my wildest imagination.
I take home with me a new definition of what is possible on a motorcycle, a humbling acceptance of my limitations and an immense sense of accomplishment for having completed this.
Motorcycle Adventure is what I yearned for, and that’s what Alex and his team delivered.
We looked at many other companies before choosing Nomadic Knights, and we’re so happy that we did. They’ve taken everything to the next level, and their attention to detail was truly impressive.
If you asked me to do it again, the answer in a heartbeat is most definitely YES!
But there’s more.
It’s not just where you are camping, it’s who you are camping with that matters most!
I was fortunate to share this experience with a bunch of like-minded bikers. We met as strangers and parted as true friends.
If you are still thinking as to whether you should try this ride, my advice is to BOOK IT NOW!
You’ll return a changed human being.
Thank you, Alex and the team, for an unforgettable experience.
You’ll see me again for the Rode To Everest ride.” – Dimitry, June 2025.
Before anyone asks – no, we didn’t pay him to leave this review!
Dimitry just gets it.
This is how we want all our riders to feel after leaving our adventures, and it’s absolutely possible when riders are open-minded and prepared to be put through their paces, just like Dimitry.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
