READY TO RIDE
CHAPTER FIFTY-FIVE
Welcome to chapter fifty-five of our ‘Ready To Ride’ short stories series.
These are five quick snapshots of what we do, where we ride, the laughs had, and the general shenanigans and goings-on, while riding together over the Himalayas & through South India.
I’m posting these every Friday, and they’re an easy read; a few minutes are all you need.
Enjoy!

I’ll get round to it…
What if you don’t?
We live in a world where we’re constantly busy, and life moves fast.
There are things we want to get round to doing, and when we don’t, we might push them to tomorrow, next month, or even next year.
But there’s no time like the present.
Sometimes we have to bite the bullet and turn the talking into action.
Who knows what’s round the corner?
Life is for living – don’t leave it too late.
Start your year in stunning South India.

How do you prepare for the adventure of a lifetime?
Some things are tough to prepare for.
Yes, you need to pack the right kit and all the essentials.
But for rides like this, preparation isn’t just about your gear.
It’s about preparing yourself for a true adventure – your mindset, the realities of the journey, the motorcycles, and the terrain you’ll be tackling.
In this world, there’s no such thing as too much preparation.

And there we have it…
Today we made it to Everest Base Camp.
After tackling a high pass and over 117 endless switchbacks, then riding up a wide and dry valley, we arrived in plenty of time at Everest Base Camp, sitting at an altitude of just over 17,000 feet (5,200 metres).
What a view to arrive to.
There’s a buzz in the air as people call home, some share stories of the ride so far, and others sit in silence, absorbing the moment.
No matter how you choose to spend your time at the Base Camp of Everest, there’s no denying it’s a moment that will stand the test of time.

Agriculture is the mainstay of the economy here in India…
The state of Andhra Pradesh is one of India’s largest rice-growing regions and a major producer of tobacco.
On day nine of our Grand Canyon India ride, we leave Karnataka and continue across the plateau. We stay away from busy highways, taking the lesser-known routes as we ride deeper into South India’s heartland.
This is a lonely, vast, and desolate landscape.
Whilst there might not be as many people, there’s plenty of life all around – fields full of tomatoes, chillies, bananas, rice paddies and more.
As we ride towards Proddatur, we soon realise how bountiful these lands really are.

That sums it up nicely!
Always expect the unexpected here – and always be prepared.
You’ll spot plenty of these signs on one adventure in particular – the Roof Of India.
Enjoy the ride.
I’ll see you on the next one.

So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
