Long unreachable, Tibet and Mount Everest rightly top the wish list of motorcyclists worldwide. Our motorcycle tour – Rode to Everest – is an epic, sensory ride across the roof of the world. No surprises that it’s our most popular adventure.
You’ll spend time in the ancient, fabled cities of Lhasa and Kathmandu, but none of it will prepare you for the moment when Mount Everest first appears before you. The majesty of it is breath-taking.
That night at Everest Base Camp – on the border between Nepal and China – you’ll watch the sunset over the mountain peak before you sleep.
It’s the ride of a lifetime because that’s what we do.
Nomadic Knights have been leading motorcycle tours in India since 2012. Our rides are unique experiences, backed up by the best motorcycles and the best support.

Founder and Lead Rider
You’ll ride for over 2,300 kms, alongside glittering azure lakes, vast landscapes and snow-capped peaks. You’ll see remote deserts, deeply forested gorges and high-altitude moorlands. But that’s just the beginning. The highlights of our Everest Tour include:
Our Everest motorbike adventure begins and ends at Kathmandu. You’ll find much to see and do. This is an intoxicating, charming and exhausting place.
Take a stroll through the backstreets and you’ll find the city’s cultural heritage spilling out before you. There are hidden temples overflowing with marigolds, courtyards full of drying chillies, and tiny hobbit-sized workshops.
Choose wisely. This endlessly fascinating (and sometimes infuriating) city has enough sights to keep you busy for a week.
At 3,650m this is one of the highest cities in the world, not to mention the site of the Pothala Palace – the spiritual winter home of the Dalai Lama.
You may also want to take a trip down to Barkhor Street, spend time at the Dreprung monastery, or chill out with a beer at one of many restaurants.
Mount Everest (Visitor Base Camp)
Welcome to one of the most famous places on the planet. The day we reach Mount Everest, we’ll ride through a high pass with over 117 curves and then through a wide, dry valley. We are at an altitude of just over 17,000 feet (5,200 metres). The next time you’re this high, you’ll likely be flying home.
We’ll spend the evening taking photographs and watching the sun go down over the peak. I can assure you that these moments will stay etched in your memory forever.
DISCOVER NEPAL AND TIBET
Hello. I’m Alex Pirie from Nomadic Knights. Since 2008, I’ve been guiding people like you on life-changing motorcycle adventures to Mount Everest in Tibet. Nomadic Knights is my business and my passion. That’s why we can offer:
- The best routes – ‘tuned’ and perfected for over a decade.
- The best motorcycles – from the iconic brand, Royal Enfield.
- The best team – mechanics, safety and support.
Make no mistake. These are not holidays. The road to Everest is not always easy. But you will fall in love with life all over again and have more fun than you’ve had in years. I know, because in 2006 I was sat right where you are now.
Read my story or browse our adventures.
THE BEST TEAM
I lead every ride, but I’m backed up by an expert team of mechanics, medics and local contacts. These guys are experienced experts who shadow us 24/7. We’re serious about offering the best-supported motorcycle tours to Everest.
You never quite know what’s around the corner – that’s just how it is when you ride in Tibet. But there’s one thing you can be sure of – we’ve been around long enough to have seen just about everything.
See the Rode to Everest adventure page and info pack to find out whether this iconic tour is for you.
THE BEST MOTORCYCLES
The road to Everest demands a special motorcycle. Our fleet includes the iconic Himalayan from Royal Enfield, but our standards don’t stop there. We replace our fleet every two years, and fully service each motorcycle before every ride. (I’m a mechanic by trade, so nothing gets by me.)
We focus on the detail. We fit luggage racks, soft panniers, tank bags, USB chargers, hand guards and so on as standard. The motorcycles are ready to ride, but our mechanics are always on hand if you need something adjusted to suit. It’s no problem.

“every day was an adventure”
This ‘holiday’ was an incredible journey. The scenery was stunning, the riding always challenging, and the people brilliant. It is not an overstatement to say that every day was an adventure and I made some great friends along the way.
“A fantastic adventure”
An adventure that should be undertaken by any motorcyclist with a taste for the unexpected and the awesome power of mother nature. A fantastic adventure with a very organised Team – well done guys and thanks for one of my best rides ever.
“hugely rewarding trip”
It was a challenging but hugely rewarding trip. The memories of the trusty old motorcycle, the fantastic people I was riding alongside, the breathtaking scenery and of rounding a blind bend on a mountain pass and coming face to face with sleeping cow will stay with me for a long time and inspire many more adventures!
Our Roof of India adventure takes you on a challenging but breath-taking ride in the Himalayas, exploring high altitude deserts and forest trails, tackling the “Cliffhanger” and visiting ancient Indian cities.
NEPAL AND TIBET
Alongside our India tours, we offer motorbike tours in Nepal and Tibet, taking you to the highest mountain in the world. The Rode to Everest adventure begins in Kathmandu (capital city of Nepal), goes through the mystical land of Tibet, and ends with stunning views of Mount Everest from Base Camp.
NORTH EAST INDIA
Nomadic Knights offer a unique motorbike tour of North East India called India’s Lost World. On this adventure, we ride through one of the least explored regions of the world, visiting all of the “Seven Sisters” states – we’re the only motorcycle adventure company to do this!
If you’re interested in going on a motorcycle tour of North India, our Roof of India adventure lets you experience the beauty and challenges of the Himalayas. We are also doing a ‘Golden Temple Jeep Rally’ in the North, where we will visit the famous Golden Temple in Amritsar.
Nomadic Knights offer custom motorcycle tours in Rajasthan; you can decide where to go and when! We even offer a car adventure in Rajasthan, Steph’s Best Exotic Nano Car Rally, where we will be driving Tata Nanos in the Thar Desert and staying in the actual Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
We offer exciting motorcycle tours of South India. One of these is Bullets to Beaches, where we will be riding the Royal Enfield Bullet: 500cc Trial Works Replica motorcycle along the coast of the Bay of Bengal to the Arabian Sea.
DISCOVER REAL ADVENTURE
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
