A MUCH NEEDED & HOPEFULLY IMPROVED NEW YEAR
4 January, 2021

I think it’s safe to say that we’ll be talking about 2020 for many years to come.
Maybe it will make the history books. I’m sure it will.
I’m dearly hoping that it’s only 2020 we’ll be discussing and writing about and that 2021 brings some welcome changes.
We’ve been sitting tight and taking everything as it comes. There’s no choice in that really. We’ve dealt with it the same way as we would when preparing for and while on one of our rides.
So much of what we do is out of our control. We can plan and prepare in the best way possible and then suddenly the weather changes everything.
When that happens, we all feel vulnerable and the doubts start to creep in. We know it’s going to get cold and we’re going to get wet. It will also be slow going and there will be a few fallers along the way.
There’s a great saying by Mike Tyson. “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”
That’s what 2020 has felt like. Not only a punch in the mouth but a good hard kick in the crown jewels. We’re trying our hardest to keep smiling but the pain is there, I can assure you.
All the signs point to 2021 bringing the changes we need to start operating again. I’ve ordered another ten brand new Royal Enfield Himalayans to add to our ever expanding fleet. I’ve also invested in a new KTM 390 Adventure which should arrive sometime in February. I’d like to see if it’s a motorcycle we can use for the future. I have no idea right now, time will tell.
If everything goes as we think it might, we’ll be looking like we pulled off some sort of masterstroke and were brilliant strategists.
If it doesn’t, then we appear to be optimistic and infantile fools.
We’re ready for both scenarios.
What we do here at Nomadic Knights isn’t easy and it’s not meant to be. We’ve designed it that way.
As always, we’re hoping for the best but are prepared for the worst.
We’re in this for the long haul and if it means toughing it out for longer than expected, then so be it.
Hopefully with my fingers crossed, I’ll be riding with you and leading from the front in 2021.
Happy New Year.
Alex and the team.

KNIGHT CLUB
So you’re considering taking on a real adventure? I remember the feeling. In 2006, I was sat right where you are now… wondering if it was for me.
Join our mailing list – The Knight Club – and I’ll send my no-BS thoughts on why you should (or shouldn’t) take it on. No sales. No special offers. These rides aren’t for everyone, but if you’re the right kind of person, it can remind you what it means to be alive.
All the best, Alex.
